Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the UniApplyForMe Labs Data API ("Service") at console.labs.org.za, you ("User", "you") agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms in full, you may not access or use the Service. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and UniApplyForMe Labs (Pty) Ltd ("we", "us", "our"), a company registered under South African law.

2. Permitted Use

You may use the Service only for lawful purposes and strictly in accordance with these Terms. Permitted uses include integrating API data into your own applications, conducting research, and building tools that supplement, not replicate, the Service. You agree not to: (a) use the API to build a competing university admissions, bursary aggregation, or student guidance platform; (b) resell, sublicense, or redistribute API data or access to third parties without prior written permission from UniApplyForMe Labs; (c) misrepresent the source of data returned by the API; (d) use the Service in any way that violates applicable South African or international law.

3. Prohibited Conduct: Scraping and Bulk Extraction

Automated bulk extraction of data from the Service ("scraping") is strictly prohibited regardless of the technical method used. This includes but is not limited to: systematic pagination through all available records in a single session or across multiple sessions; use of bots, crawlers, or automated scripts to retrieve data beyond normal application use; and storing or redistributing bulk extracts of qualifications, bursaries, universities, or any other dataset accessible through the API. Violation of this clause may result in immediate account suspension, permanent blocking of your API tokens, and civil legal action for damages including but not limited to loss of revenue and breach of contract. We actively monitor usage patterns and will flag and investigate accounts exhibiting scraping behaviour.

4. API Tokens and Security

You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your API tokens. You must not embed production tokens in publicly accessible client-side code, share tokens with third parties, or commit tokens to public repositories. You must notify us immediately at data@labs.org.za if you suspect a token has been compromised. UniApplyForMe Labs is not liable for any damages resulting from unauthorised use of your tokens.

5. Rate Limits and Fair Use

Your plan includes monthly request quotas and per-minute rate limits. Repeated or sustained breach of rate limits, or any attempt to circumvent them, constitutes abuse of the Service and may result in account suspension without refund.

6. Data Accuracy

UniApplyForMe Labs makes every reasonable effort to ensure the accuracy of data returned by the API. However, we do not warrant the completeness, correctness, or currency of any data. University admission requirements, bursary closing dates, and APS scores change frequently and must always be verified directly with the relevant institution before being relied upon for any decision. UniApplyForMe Labs accepts no liability for decisions made on the basis of API data.

7. Intellectual Property

All data, content, structured datasets, editorial descriptions, career prospects, and admission requirements available through the Service are the intellectual property of UniApplyForMe Labs or its licensors. You may not reproduce, distribute, publish, or create derivative works from this content without prior written authorisation. The structured subject-level admission requirements data in particular represents significant original editorial work and is protected accordingly.

8. Payments and Refunds

Paid plans are billed monthly. Fees are non-refundable except where required by South African consumer law. Downgrading your plan takes effect at the end of your current billing cycle. UniApplyForMe Labs reserves the right to change pricing with 30 days notice.

9. Suspension and Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time and without notice if you: violate any provision of these Terms; engage in scraping or bulk extraction; abuse the API; or cause harm to other users or the platform. Suspended accounts are not entitled to a refund of any prepaid fees.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, UniApplyForMe Labs and its directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 30 days preceding the claim.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes arising under or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of South Africa.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date of changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. The current Terms version is identified by the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
